When I explained myself to the waitress, she shrugged and said "I trust you". I offered to drive home (20 miles north, in SoCal traffic) and drive right back. She shrugged and said " Cool, or just call it in on your credit card". Bu the way, the restaurant is Dakota Grill, in the Gaslamp Quarter.
